OLYMPICS x LUCRECIA PÍTTARO February 2026, Verona
«Temple of Love»
Valentine's Day installation
OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES Milano Cortina 2026
The idea was to create an art installation where the public could step inside and write their support messages for the athletes directly on the painting. The artwork is meant to be like a backdrop, a decor where fans and passersby can enter and leave their personal mark. The motifs on the painting combine stylised ornaments with bold stripes in the Olympic colours. The stripes stand for Verona’s architectural characteristics where different types of stones and marbles are combined together creating a striped pattern and they are as well, a reference to sport lines.

Acrylic paint on linen canvas, metallic structure, metal clips and ribbons
240 x 260 x 170 cm
2026

The structure of the artwork is built around the concept of a frontispiece with a pediment decorated with a big ruffled heart supported by two columns and surrounded by a light pink sky. The pink colour is an homage to Verona’s local pink limestone, one of the key architectural elements of the city.

The installation celebrates the art of handmade by presenting a hand-painted artwork to remind the viewer the value of craft. By encouraging the simple gesture of writing a message, the piece transforms a basic action into a meaningful connection.

THE PROCESS
Starting from a hand drawn sketch, I proceed to draw in detail and real scale the outline of the artwork. After tracing the outline with carbon paper on the canvas I start to paint with acrylic paint the first layers of color to determine their placement and combination.
Depending on the color shade, three or more layers of color are needed to convey a uniform and flat appearance of the motifs.
The artwork was painted first positioned on the ground and then hanged vertically on the metallic structure.
